michelin pilot road 2's
« on: April 05, 2010, 09:47:09 AM »
ran one on the back last year, now running a pair on my daytona speed triple conversion, and really inspire confidence from the off lots of grip wet n dry.

good mileage out the back got 5k, would have had more if i hadnt done a 2k trip to millau as my first trip last year.

best bit is price 203 quid fitted at ats

I'll second that......

I was getting fed up with 1700 miles out of a rear 2'ct on the Triumph. So opted for the harder wearing Road 2's.  Some of you know I dont hang around, but seriously. I can push this road 2 as hard as I did the 2'cts and I havnt had any issues or warnings with them. But..... Im getting 5000 miles to a rear.

I still keep the Pilot 2CT on the front for a bit of front end confidence. But it has made me realise that, all this super sticky tyres for the road is a complete waste of money and time. They never heat up to the optimum working temperature, which, the road 2's do. And therefore offer more grip.

I would opt for something more approriate for the track though.

The Road 2's are far superior to the Pilot Roads mate.
The technology has moved on leaps and bounds from the old Pilot Roads.

I would have never have contemplated putting the older Pilot Roads on my sportsbikes in the past. They just wouldn't have coped. But the newer versions are awesome road tyres.

Will give better grip hot or cold, better wet weather grip, and better milage than the older Pilot Roads ever will.

This may sound daft but what about putting them on a Blade?

I run the 2ct's at the mo and I'm not getting the mileage and I don't ride as hard as some people I know. I want more mileage and to save a few pennies but don't wan't to sacrifice what I got just for that.

I know a few guys that have got them on Blades, and Gixer thous. Ive only had one report of them letting go. But he did admit he was cranked right over on a roundabout, and he gave it a handfull.

I run a different combination on my triumph. I run the Pilot 2CT on the front to give that shit on a blanket feel from the front end, and a Road2 on the rear. I was getting 2000 miles out of a 2CT on the rear. But now im getting over 5000, with no grip issues whatsoever.

Although if you are planning a trackday or something, then I think they would get a bit overwhelmed and maybe overheat. But for the road, jobs a feckin good un!  :thumbsup

you lucky bastard! I pay over 240 a pair fitted. Where is the ats store you mention? I tried the online store locator but couldnt find any with motorcycle tyre fitters.
Dai Ling Ping.
So what would happened if I drive faster than the speed of light and turn on my headlight?
You know youve been caught speeding when the photo of your bike has motion blurr.

I got 11,000kms out of my last rear Pilot 2. Canvas showing from side too side tho.
I love them as a tyre-here in NZ I pay $328 dollars for a rear-fitted and balanced.

Just coming to the end of my first set on the R1. Power 2CT front / Road 2 rear.

I'm just getting to the 5,000 mile mark. They have kept their shape well, but have just started to give that wandering feeling. They are just about down to the wear blocks, but the squaring off has been minimal.

Was only last weekend, the guy following me on his 2010 gixer thou said...... 'Your leaving darkies out of all the bends'  :surrender....... Felt absolutely planted to me!!   :oops
