Maxxis Supermax Sport
« on: April 17, 2011, 06:06:13 PM »
I've ran these Maxxis Supermax Sport all day, done over 200 miles on them and I could not get them to put a foot wrong. Never once did I feel like the front or rear was going to let go.

Only thing I can find with them is I have had the bike right over, the rear is scrubbed side to side but the front still has a little bit of a strip either side.

So for me it was the best tyre choice so far, £140 a pair from Champion Moto.

I aint the quickest so wether these would be enough for the fast group on here who knows but for the everyday plodder at that price there a bargain.

Can hardly use the edge of my front bridgestone even though the back has no strips and with the occasional footpeg scrape, I think it's the profile on the front but I'm not a riding expert or tyre expert so.. :)

On around 750 miles now and some of that was the recent track day. A Racetec would have another 250'ish miles left on my bike by this stage and still got 3/4 tread left.

On the track I did have the rear let go a few times, I thought it was the tyres just not suited to the track BUT after thinking about what I was doing I realised it was me riding like an arse expecting more than any tyre can offer.

It would let go flat over in the power over 8Krpm and on the gas in 2nd gear on a 230kg sports tourer with 15 year old suspension. No tyre will ever hold that......

......On my last session Red Mist was gone and concentrated, flat over this time I feathered it (half throttle) in 3rd gear and never let go, was getting quicker and quicker. the front end just would not let go, the pegs are ground out. Lean angles are great.

I put Maxxis Supermax Sport on my Speed Triple last September 2184 out of the rear and just took the front off after 5489.  Excellent grip not impressed with the rear wear.
Tried to get the Diamond last week but although they advertise them in a 190 I could only find them in 180 so went for old reliable Road 2's.

Grass Tracking, they are unbelievably good. Never thought a tyre would do so many things,,,,,  :shocked

Well Maxxis do know how to make good Supermoto tyres and that is what keep me upright. Thinking of using my Thundercrap for a few Supermoto events :tt

You should have seen my cold tyre 2nd gear on tap incident......

Small track & Red Mist...

Still allround Road, Track, Supermoto, Grass tracking general honing around Tyre that so far will last longer than Racetecs.

i've had three set's on my GTR14 and can't fault them hard wearing and the front out last's all the other tires i have had by 2k so for a working bike they are a must although price has gone up on them at moment
its funny until some one gets hurt, then its Hilarius
