MCN Advert for George White
« on: September 14, 2011, 08:11:20 PM »
Page 12 of MCN and also in last week's issue.

Rukka Armadillo jkt £499.99 was £799.99,

looks like a good deal until you look at the Yamaha 1200 Tenere advert and the items you get free, which includes...

Rukka Armadillo Jkt RRP £309.

RRP £309 and previously sold as £799.99, wtf.

799.99 - 309 = 490.99 that's 159% mark up. I thought Rukka were expensive because they were very high spec, (at TT I didn't get involved in the pricing) but now I see that it's just ripoffski by the resellers.

I guess it's a legal requirement to show the actual rrp in an advert where it's that sum that is being used to build up the value of the offer against another product, in this case the Tenere.

if you want to mark up something as a sale item it only has to be marked up at a higher price for a few weeks in any one of there stores nationwide then it can be marked down as a sale item in any store they choose

So disclosing the RRP in one part of the ad and then having a different offer elsewhere in the ad is just a mistake in your opinion? It is in mine.

no what i am saying is they can advertise a price higher else where in the country then claim it as a bargain later, in other words a legal con not a mistake, they just dont think or hope people are going to notice when they put ads in the same mag, just goes to show what they think of the paying public

I understand that Pricey, but in this advert they have two sets of prices. Set one is for the jacket and screams save £300 quid, only £499.99 reduced from £799.99

Then in the same ad for free kit if you buy a Tenere it says the same jacket is free but RRP is £309.00

It doesn't matter if there's been a store anywhere else where it was cheaper, what you have here is the rrp for an item that elsewhere in the advert they are saying you save £300 by buying it at £499.99 then show you rrp is only £309, so they are still making £190.99.

i can see what you mean now with the prices in front of me  :old just goes to show i missed the first point of the price difference,so if i missed it just think how many people read the one ad and thought ooh a bargain, please have some money off me
