Black powder coated swing arm
« on: July 29, 2011, 05:27:38 PM »
 :help

I have a 2010 CBR600RR the black powder coating is coming off near the rear hugger fixing bolt, on the left hand side. Honda UK will not honour the warranty. Can these be touched up (painted) to stop the silver showing. I dont think they can be re powder coated as they are filled with foam to stop them ringing. Any ideas!

only 1 yr old and powder coating coming off, then i'd play the warraty card.

i repainted a swing arm on a Yamaha TDM a couple of years ago, but this was silver. i used smoothrite silver in a rattle can.

IF its covered by the warranty I would be jumping up and down on the dealers desk !!  :taz  :taz
Bikes don't leak oil',.... they mark their territory :o)           Sometimes it takes a whole tankful of fuel before you can think straight. Growing old is manditory... but growing up...well that my friends...is OPTIONAL!

Looks good Triple, where did you get it done? I need to sort the one out on my ZX6 and my mate needs to get his ZX12 done too, they'll be a winter project I should think though!

Dave
I think I replied to your warranty issues on another forum.

To get it powder coated you would be looking at least £60 to get it done. Then all the hassle of removing the bearings and bushes, fitting new ones (more cost), and also blocking off all the threaded holes etc etc.....

You may have more luck finding a second hand one on Ebay.

I wouldn't care how he worked if he was half the price of everyone else either!  lol
