« on: July 26, 2010, 09:09:20 PM »
Ok my biker mates
How do you work out if your rectifier or alternator is gone have come to the conclusion the battery is ok as the optimiser is giving 2 green lights and does charge but turn on the ignition and power drops turn of and back up again after journey completely flat and won't start up again ?????

Answers on a postcard please

would really appreciate any suggestions

Start off by measuring the charge voltage. Measuring across the battery when the bike is running should give you around 13.5volts at idle.
Give it some revs (about 3 - 4000) and you should see the voltage rise. That'll prove the alternator is doing it's job.

Andy.
The instructions said "Use Windows XP or greater" so I installed Linux!
A Life? Cool! Where can I download one of those?

mojo get yourself over to triumph torque, the rectifier is a known fault, i beleive you need a fh08 one to replace it, mines the early type built into the alternator so different to yours, also the is a wiring mod as well to upgrade the cable size, the biggest issue is the overheating as its mounted under the tail plastics and doesnt dissipate heat enough
