No Clutch!?!?!?
« on: February 04, 2012, 08:35:11 PM »
 :banghead
Can someone help? The clutch on XJR 1300 packed up this week, found it really difficult to change gear and completely packed in so wouldn;t go into gear at all, on advice changed the slave cylinder seals but it is still the same, pretty sure I changed the seals correctly. When I removed the unit I noticed the push rod had no movement in it at all, is this normal>> any ideas pleeease.............

Hydraulic piston pushes a rod into the plates, Not sure about the condition of the plates, I guess that is the next move, didn't want to remove the covers unless I have to...

If the plates were worn the clutch would slip so you'd get gears but reduced drive..

You could have a couple of clutch springs broken or warped plates.

Could also be down to a bent clutch rod.

Can you get gears without the engine running?

Sounds like the master to me, if the lever is coming all the way back that is, if the lever is solid then the slave or the rod is the problem

You wouldn't be able to move the clutch rod in with your fingers, the spring tension is way to high.

1. As has been said is the clutch line actually bled up?
2. Does the slave cylinder actually move when you pull in the lever?

Those are the two things you need to ascertain before we go any further.
