Im a genuine biker - with no ties to any company and no axe to grind. I bought the viper rs v131 bluetooth and it is useless. The construction is cheap and plasticky, plugging in the blue tooth to charge it up is a real struggle - the holes in the neck collar do not line up with the plug hole in the inside of the helmet. Even if you ignore the 'specially built hole' and just try to plug it in the neck colloer is so stiff its hard to get the jack plug in - the jack plug will bend! It suppose to show a red ligth when charging - ive charged mine several time and its now not working!! I bought the helmet on line and the first one I had to send back as it wouldnt charge as soon as I got it. The trader sent me another one - I should have asked for my money back. Traders must know these helmets are crap - but they keep selling them!! The flip up chin/face mechanism is stiff/ hard to use - The button is ina an absolute stupid place at the front of the visor - when you push it back you are also pushing your head back so you are fightingyourself( compared to my shoey helmet with a simply pull down lever so it makes lifitng the visor at the ligths a real struggle - not cool. The black sunvisor looks great But the lever that pulls it down is on the side and back of the helmet - with gloves on you can hardly feel it as the lever is so small again its a real faff - not cool. Also one review says he wears glasses and they are really easy to put on. He must work for the company becasue it is almost impossible to get specs on mine are thin rimmed and easy with my other helmets!) but not the viper its a real painful process - needless to say there is no recess in the face padding for specs). The blue tooth does connect up easiy but the speakers are very quiet. Ive not tested the shell (luckily) but if its the same build quality of the rest of the helmet - I wouldnt like to trust it. DONT wast your money

YOU need to try it .. I can't stress this enough ... What suits one person or what one person dilikes is not gonna be the same for you.

All lids in this country have to meet certain basic safety standards ... the government link tells you how well they do in safety tests.... But it needs to comforable and a good fit for YOU ... If you can't try it don't buy it  :thumbsup

I know it may mean trecking around and a bit of a journey to a shop that has a good selection .. but you only got one bonce...  :tt keep it safe.

The nearest place to me is 45 miles away but it was worth the trip  :tup2  :tup2
Bikes don't leak oil',.... they mark their territory :o)           Sometimes it takes a whole tankful of fuel before you can think straight. Growing old is manditory... but growing up...well that my friends...is OPTIONAL!

Just get your arse into a big bike shop :), helmets come in different head shapes too, not just size.

In built sun visors are never as good as just wearing sunglasses, but useful for being caught out by glare.

Bluetooth headsets aren't as expensive as you think. I got myself a parrot sk4000 headset from amazon cost me £35 (think price has gone up a bit now), does everything I ever wanted and was a piece of cake to fit to my helmet.

Those two functions shouldn't be the deciding factor on a helmet :)

Hi Guys

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I was scouring the internet for a customer who was having trouble pairing his V131 to a Blackberry.
I can't say enough good things about the helmet concept, a helmet with bluetooth already installed is a fantastic idea.
However, the implementation of the idea needs some serious rethinking. The reason the helmets generally wont charge is loose cable connectors, having almost totally dismantled several of these helmets they appear to be second rate and have no means of fastening. They are balancing in the battery and the slightest movement of the helmet when charging will knock them out.
Several of the initial batch did not have the charging hole in the neck shroud, a complaint that often darkens my e-mail inbox and this causes the problem with the chargers bending and becoming damaged or warped.
The padding itself is fairly good, but not up to the standards you'd expect for £150 sadly and several of the ones we have in stock have had gashs taken out of the roof of the helmet by the charger packaging. Check this before you buy or if you have already!
As I said before, the bluetooth is a fantastic idea but the actual usability of the device fitted isnt too good. I recently discovered, pairing and charging simultaneously aren't feasible and the pairing process is bizarre.
I can't recommend this helmet at all, the version without the bluetooth is actually an excellent budget flip front. Viper wanting to do too much for too little is what has let this lid down.

I have just got one.
The bluetooth seems to work quite well and paired easily with my iphone. I can hear sat nav directions up to the legal speed limit. There are loose cables which I have tucked behind padding but not properly cable tied down.
The main limitations are:
The sun visor thing - I think this is a dangerous bit of kit. Not good optically. didnt retract fully. A distraction. There were no instructions on how to remove it so I pulled hard and it just clips on (and off).
The top of the viewport is a tad too low when riding my suzuki sv650s - probably ok for a more sit up posture.
The helmet generates a lot of wind noise because of poor implementation of the flip up jaw bit with blade like bits of plastic at the sides which whistle in the wind.
The padding is fairly badly fitting and of poor quality.
Overall I am quite disappointed with it.
