M&P chain and sprocket kit???
« on: August 25, 2011, 09:29:43 AM »
Has anyone bought the m&p chain and sprocket kits?  and how well do they last?

I have pricing kits online,  renthals, afams, Tsubacki (or whoever they're called),  triple s, etc and found (brand unnamed)  x-ring and heavy duty x-ring kits from m&p at a very competitive price but I am wondering are they a false economy or are they value for money?

If anyone has bought one can you let me know as I would like to order a kit asap, I just can't decide where from?

cheers.
Yes, everyone else maybe melting to death on the roads but not us! Because we have a car with hair conditioner! I mean what in the name of sanity did they think we want it for? To make sure that the roof rack is more shiny and managable?

I bought a kit off Ebay for my Bandit and a kit from M&P for my Ninja, the quality of both chains was very good but if I'm honest the rear sprocket on the Ebay kit seemed a lot better but that said it was much heavier.

Heya,

we stock DID and RK chains at the moment, so I can assure you that the kits are great quality. We get our sprockets from JT sprockets so they are also top notch.

If you guys do have any questions, we are only a phonecall or email away.

:)

In the past I have sworn by renthals hardened alloy sprockets but ain't had to buy one in a few years and the price has risen and my income has gone the other way and I am wondering if it's worth biting the bullet and going for a renthals kit first as last?

I put a cheaper kit on my 1200 bandit streetfighter years ago and it destroyed it in no time so I just stuck with renthals chains and sprockets after.

Ive never used Renthals stuff myself personnaly so cant comment. May I ask what brands where included in your "cheaper" kit dude?

I can picture the black and gold box for the chain,  I don't know why I remember this because it was about 10 years ago but I can't think of the brand.  So no help to you there.
I will rack my brains over this now all day till I get it,  cheers.  :taz

Hmmm, have a think. Bare in mind that most manufacturers have come along way in 10 years :D

:i_agree on my last bike I did 10,000 miles on a set I bought from M&P and it still looked in good nick when I sold the bike. And it's true, chain and sprocket technology has come a long way in 10 years.

I'm 7000 miles into the chain on my Bandit and it looks like new and I've had to adjust it once, the wonders of a chain oiler  :thumbsup

Thanks for your feedback and it does seem chains have come a long way in ten years.  The milages you are talking about here sound great, what I would've expected from a £174 afam kit. I feel so out of touch having been off the road for a few years, lol.   I will buy the M&P heavy duty x-ring option then.
 Thanks again guys.     :tup2
And Yanto that is disappointing about the labour skills used to manufacture these chains,  if they did use child labour maybe they could pass the savings onto us consumers.   :rofl

Well the o-rings and x-rings are fiddly little things and are more suited to kids hands, don't you think?  :scratch    :rofl
