Research into impact of serious injury
« on: January 26, 2012, 03:51:30 PM »
My name is Richard and I am currently conducting some research as part of my PhD at the University of Chester.  The primary focus of the research is to explore the immediate and long term impact that serious injury has, following a motorcycling incident on the biker/motorcyclist and also their significant others e.g. wife, husband, parents, friends and so forth.  Furthermore I would like to explore how as a result of a fatal accident, significant others are affected by this.  Most research conducted tends to take a top down approach, which looks at accident causation and statistical analysis and subsequently fail to take into account the views of those who matter the most.  This research, aims to explore the views, perceptions and attitudes of motorcyclists/bikers themselves, concerning issues of safety, protection and risk.  I am interested specifically in the views, experiences and attitudes of those all those who ride bikes between the ages of 20-60.  I would very much appreciate it, if members interested in this research took the time to contact me to discuss it in more detail.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and I look forward to hearing from those interested soon.
Regards

"explore the views, perceptions and attitudes of motorcyclists/bikers themselves, concerning issues of safety, protection and risk"

I think most of us don't want to think too deeply about this, but it is always at the back of our minds. But the freedom and sense of well being biking gives me far outweighs the concerns.

if we thought about it.. we wouldn't ride

luckily, when u get older the brain cells mercifully deminish, so thinking deeply is no longer an option
wot I does is switch off, take a box of viagra, jump  on the bike
and let the brains in my trousers  do the thinking

yeah yeah .. I know !!!! ... but wot a way to go !!!

(ps.. don't try this at home)
