There used to be a few on here.

See if you can get the job centre to send you somewhere where they will rejig your CV.

What is your line of work.?

You never know, someone might see something that might suit you and could let you know about it.

in a previous life i recruited up to senior manager level
CV's
keep to 2 pages , bullet point, use key words that stand out (dependant on your line of work), i wouldn;t have time to read every CV in detail and would loose the will to live after 2 pages. get your CV reviewed and updated (PM me if you want)

look at the advert for what you are applying for and ensure covering letter reflects what they are looking for

promote yourself - you are selling yourself as a good employee. its hard to do but the next applicant could be on paper the perfect employee!!

expand your search to include things that may only slightly touch on experience

use online agencies / job pages.

get advice from Job centre and check if they run any courses to improve your CV, interview skills etc

does my bum look big in this.....

Well you have 'managerial experience'  so promote that in your CV, which will help you a lot. I expect you will need to commute a bit for the next job though.?

Yeh, experience/experienced is mentioned nearly all the time, even in PPI claims which have only just started in the last 9 months or so. My sister has worked for two banks on PPI claims, and each do it very differently.????

Emphasis the same keywords that are mentioned on the job advert, as that is what an agency person will match against.

In my profession the agent will unlikely know what the keywords even mean, so if you have one missing, you get binned.

Good luck. :tup2

Have a look at indeed.co.uk for your area and see if there is anything temporary to at least bring some money in, more than the dole at least.?

Re experience, just seen this there after posting your area.
Bearing in mind this is taking stuff off the shelves and putting it back on with a plan to work off.   :rofl

Quote
Replenishment staff required to work with a national supermarket group. You will be required to work nights 8pm to 6am taking stock off shelves for minor alterations to be made by shopfitters. Stock will then need to be replaced using a planogram. Previous retail experience would be advantageous as would your own transport.
The Holyhead store will consist of 2-3 weeks work. However we have more locations available.
Day shifts also available 8am to 6pm

Been a long while since I worked in a supermarket stocking shelves, so my experience would be right out of date.

Yeh, you wonder why you pay your NI sometimes.? At least by signing on they will pay your stamp, so if there is still a pension when you get to pension age, you will get something.

I had that problem after 20yrs of full time employment (two employers), jobcenter  wouldn't give me feck all.   Couldn't find work for months and finally started getting job seekers.  Got myself 5months work and when it finished I returned to the jobcenter and because I returned to work for 5 months they told me I now had insufficient contributions and was no longer entitled to benefits (my wife works part time).  Penalised for working??????
I spent 11yrs with one employer and 9yrs with another and I have found this last three years difficult working minimum wage (decrease of £18k p.a.) on and off,  failing interviews and feeling deflated over and over about not even getting replies.  I totally empathise with you but we must just keep going forward with hope.

Yes, everyone else maybe melting to death on the roads but not us! Because we have a car with hair conditioner! I mean what in the name of sanity did they think we want it for? To make sure that the roof rack is more shiny and managable?

:old   I used to interview up to senior supervisor level but have been retired for two years now.
So many applicants for every job, (over 900 once for three vacancies), that when I read applications I was looking for reasons to exclude a candidate rather than include.
If your filling out an application form have something to say for every point their looking for, no matter how trivial, 'cos if you don't mention something they want the app is usually binned.
Don.t lie!   It is possible to bend the truth, fudge it a little or be vauge, but a lie is just a way out of the door.
Read an application form caredully.   Some I had to deal with said Do NOT include CV, any that turned up with a CV were binned as it was assumed the app was completed without being read or even, on occasion, filled out on the candidates behalf.  (Job Shop were a pain for this and also for blatantly lying just to get an interview)
A good idea is to read the application or advertisement very carefully and try to work out qustions you might be asked, then prepair answers for them, they might not be asked but at least you've thought about it.
Can't think of anything else right now so, good luck in your hunt, all the best.

It's like united nations in the crappy factory I'm stuck in at the moment.  There are Polish, Lithuanians, Thais an Indians making up almost half the employees.   I don't blame these people coming here looking for a better life, if the opportunity is there you have to go for it.   Our previous Government is to blame for allowing our borders to be open to them while other European countries stemmed the flow.  If you need to find work these days and are not willing to work for minimum wage then there is an immigrant who will gladly take your place.  The eastern europeans seem to take preference for employment in a majority of employment agencies which advertise in their countries jobs that are going in Britain.
My victor meldrew moment for today.

You might also consider moving to any of these countries. Can become English teacher, make a nice living on private tuitions, enjoy great weather in the third location or make a fortune in the booming economy of the last one!  Stop complaining, sooner or later we'll be one European or Hindu/Chinese nation for that matter  :tt

Have you tried jobisjobs and it's not a type error type it in a search engine they cover the whole country I think it's what is meant to replace the job centre web site as that seems impossible to navigate good luck
